We will have:

1) (Speaker) Damon Batiste- As the President and Cultural Ambassador of the New Orleans South African Connection, Mr. Batiste has travelled to Africa more than four dozen times to forge a cultural and musical exchange between New Orleans and South Africa.
2) Jason Nix & Ed McGinnis- will share the progress of the ICNA basketball league and plans going forward, including how you can get involved
3) NORA/Blighted Housing Updates- The zoning committee will discuss what progress has been made in renovating and returning blighted Irish Channel housing stock to commerce and how we intend to keep the program moving forward.

Refreshments will be served and input welcomed!

NONPACC meetings will be held the third Wednesday of each month (except for February and December when no meetings will be held) from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. at 2020 St. Charles Avenue.  NONPACC meetings are hosted by our Sixth District Police Department and provide an excellent opportunity for residents to become better informed about crime issues in the neighborhood.

Thursday night the Irish Channel Neighborhood association will hold its monthly meeting to review committee reports. Although primarily a board meeting, it is open to the public and will be held in our usual location at 819 First street, behind the Irish Channel Christian Fellowship church at 7pm.

The other agenda items will be:
1) Blighted housing
2) Possible creation of basketball league in Clay Square
3) District B Coordinating Committee’s mayoral meetings

The next big membership meeting will be held on February 12th. If you have any items you’d like to see placed on that agenda, please let me know and we’ll get you scheduled.

What: ICNA Holiday party/ potluck

Who: Everybody! Bring the kids & neighbors!

Where: 2408 Laurel St, between 1^st and 2^nd

When: December 11, 7-9pm

In the  annual tradition, the Irish Channel Neighborhood Association is throwing a Potluck Holiday Party in lieu of a normal ICNA meeting.

We’ll also be having a White Elephant Secret Santa. If you’d like to participate, just bring along something inexpensive, strange or just plain ugly to give away- and receive something equally bizarre in return!

It’s all in good fun, and a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors, so we hope to see you there!

The Irish Channel Board will meet at 7pm in the Irish Channel Christian Fellowship Church to discuss upcoming events and zoning issues. The public is invited to attend, but there will be no public session at this time.

A Youth Against Violence march will be held June 21. Marchers will meet at City Hall at 10 a.m. and march to Jackson Avenue, with the end of the march being the Mahalia Jackson Elementary. Following the march the new playground at Mahalia Jackson will be officially dedicated to fallen officer Nicola Cotton. The playground was built by KaBoom! and the National Basketball Association’s charitable organization.

The June NONPACC meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 17 at 6:30 p.m. at 2020 St. Charles Avenue.

The next NONPACC meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Convention and Visitors Bureau, 2020 St. Charles Avenue.
